Kenya Times | On August 24, the Kenyan government is organizing the Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival to honor the relationship between Africa and Haiti

The Government of Kenya is set to host a concert dubbed the ‘Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival’ to honor the relationship between Africa and Haiti. Kenyan police officers are in the Carribean nation leading a Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission.

Principal Secretary of the State Department for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’oei on Wednesday August 7 announced that Kenya will host the concert in collaboration with the Africa for Haiti (A4H) Initiative.

According to the PS, the event, is designed to celebrate and highlight the rich cultural heritage shared between Africa and Haiti underscoring the deep historical and cultural ties between the two regions.

“Africa and Haiti share deep historical and cultural ties. To demonstrate solidarity with the people of Haiti, the State Department for Foreign Affairs and A4H will jointly host an event dubbed ‘Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival,” said Sing’oei.

“This event aims to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and Africa, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.”

The announcement came after Sing’oei held a joint briefing with the Initiative (A4H) to highlight Kenya’s commitment to the MSS Mission, reflecting Kenya’s unwavering dedication to global peace and stability.

“The MSS Mission has seen substantial progress, with Kenyan forces playing a pivotal role in support of the Haitian Government and the maintenance of security,” stated PS Singoei.

Scheduled for August 24, 2024, the event will feature a series of activities, including musical performances by renowned artists from Haiti and Africa.

It will also feature a cultural exhibition showcasing Haitian and African art, crafts, and cuisine.

On the other hand, a panel discussion on the historical, cultural, and socio-economic ties between the Carribean nation and Africa is set to be conducted during the concert.

PS Singoei reiterated Kenya’s commitment to continued support in security, governance, and development initiatives.

“Kenya looks forward to a stable and prosperous Haiti in the long-term,” added the State Department for Foreign Affairs.

The announcement came amidst the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Haiti being led by Kenyan Security officers who have since recorded significant progress since the first contingent landed in the country.
