Springfield, NJ – This Saturday, dozens of protesters gathered outside the Tesla dealership in Springfield, New Jersey, to denounce what they perceive as a « power grab » by Elon Musk and his supporters. Organized by several local groups, including the Tom Paine Brigade, the demonstration aimed to raise awareness about the billionaire’s growing influence over politics and the economy.
With signs in hand, protesters chanted slogans such as “Make your voice heard against Elon Musk’s grip on our institutions” and “Boycott Tesla—hit him where it hurts: his wallet!” The choice of location was no coincidence; by targeting a Tesla dealership, organizers hoped to directly impact the economic interests of the South African-born American business magnate.
“Musk has his hands in too many sectors—from technology to media, and even politics. We refuse to let one man accumulate so much power,” said Sarah Jenkins, a protester who attended with her family.
A Growing Movement
Stationed outside the dealership on Route 22 East, the demonstrators drew the attention of passing motorists, some of whom honked in support.
“It’s inspiring to see citizens standing up against the unchecked power of corporate giants,” said James, a passerby who stopped to observe the protest.
This rally is part of a larger nationwide movement against Musk’s increasing influence, a topic that has sparked growing debate across the country. Organizers hope the protest will inspire similar actions in other U.S. cities.
“We need to remind Musk and other billionaires that we refuse to live under their control. As citizens and consumers, we have power—and it’s time to use it,” declared Tom Richardson, a member of the Tom Paine Brigade.
A Peaceful but Determined Protest
Despite the sizable turnout, the protest remained peaceful, with no intervention from law enforcement. At the end of the gathering, participants expressed their commitment to organizing future demonstrations.
Elon Musk has yet to comment on the protest, but his influence remains a divisive issue. For these demonstrators, one thing is clear: the fight has only just begun.
