Your Excellency,
As representatives of MUDJJ, an organization committed to the empowerment and independence of Haiti people, we write to you with deep concern regarding recent developments affecting the Haitian community. It has come to our attention that the issuance of visas to Haitian citizens has been severely restricted for an extended period.
We share the same island, and our nations’ histories and futures are inexorably linked. The recent visa restrictions imposed on Haitian citizens have caused significant distress and hardship to many families. We view this as a discriminatory measure that undermines the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect that should define our bilateral relations.
We firmly condemn any form of discrimination against our Haitian brothers and sisters and urge your administration to reconsider and reverse these restrictions promptly. The free and fair movement of people is not only a fundamental human right but also essential for fostering stronger ties and understanding between our nations.
Should a resolution not be reached, we regret to inform you that we will advocate for the Haitian government to discontinue any diplomatic relations with the Dominican Republic. It is our hope, however, that such measures will not be necessary and that a more equitable and just policy towards Haitian citizens will be adopted.
We trust that your administration will address this pressing issue with the seriousness and urgency it warrants. We remain hopeful that through dialogue and cooperation, we can resolve this matter amicably and continue to build a future of peace and prosperity for both our nations.
