A crisis where everyone believes that only their accord has legitimacy and that the solution must come from them, deepens so exponentially that the people lose hope in the solution that will ever take into account their right to participate in the formation of their government.
On Espace FM 98.3 with Steevens St-Fleur, host of Microscope, Mr. Steevens Argant, who did not detach himself from his political party Rebuild Haiti, but embraced the cause of Movement of Citizens Committed to the Reform of the State (MOCERE) whose goal is to operate as a think tank to develop and help develop public policy at the territorial collectivity level. Mr. Argant pleads for the integration of the territorial collectivities into the country’s political life and the decision-making and problem solving process.
In that same vein, the coordinator of MOCERE said that Haiti’s intellectual and political elite fuels the country’s current situation as they transform an institutional crisis into their personal interests deeply rooted in their grit to come out as the Savior in Chief. To this end, he warns them regarding the multitude of DIY accords, which has done nothing but pushing the country further away from political normalcy, social politeness, and constitutional principles.
Nonetheless, referring to the Montana and the Louisiana Unified Accord, Mr. Argant does not rule out that the international community, through various subliminal tweets, also deepens the crisis by ignoring the majority rule and pinning the accords against each other. “The country needs the support of the international community to reach a global solution” he firmly advanced.
Through MOCERE, the young Steevens Argant suggests that the new orientation of the country lies in the hands of the population, which he invites to get involved in solving the problems that directly affect them. He believes that the presidential vacancy must be filled through a constitutional decision with actors ready to discuss to find a global agreement to ensure security and political stability to leave a legacy to young people who do not understand at this time that their future is being mortgaged.
The newly launched movement develops strategies aimed at awakening the conscience of the territorial collectivities to empower them to engage in public policy, civic education, and political literacy. MOCERE proposes to be a national movement that will provide leaders the necessary skills and competencies to forge alliances with the international community.
Mr. Argant did not remain silent when Mr. St-Fleur asked him to provide his opinion on the Montana Accord, which he said lacks popular representation, as it did not integrate the real people who are battling insecurity and poverty every day. He further advanced that the international community is an unavoidable factor to get Haiti back on track.
The entrepreneur still believes in a global consensus that will encompass the implication of the county’s various sectors. Therefore, he suggested that 7 February be a day of reflection around all the accords to align themselves with the Haitian legislation and all its jurisprudence.
He calls on the actors to create the necessary conditions to return the country to constitutional normalcy by securing the country and organizing elections to address social problems.
