« America is ready for takeoff… We are working again, dreaming again, discovering again, leading the world again« , declares President Joe Biden calling for higher taxes on wealthy Americans and corporations as he seeks ways to pay for his massive spending proposals aimed improving infrastructure and the workforce.
In his first address in front of a joint session of Congress, Biden discussed a number of pressing topics, including pitching his American Families Plan and updates on his administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also tackled gun control, police reform and climate change among other topics.
‘After just 100 days, I can report to the nation: America is on the move again. Turning peril into possibility. Crisis into opportunity. Setback into strength.’ said Biden who urged urged all Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at the top of his address. « Everyone over the age of 16 — everyone — is now eligible to get vaccinated. Right now, right away, » said President Biden, touting his administration’s Covid response. « Go get vaccinated, America. Go and get the vaccination. »
